1. There is one word in the English language that is always pronounced incorrectly. What is it?

2. A man gave one son 10 cents and another son was given 15 cents. What time is it?

3. A boat has a ladder that has six rungs, each rung is one foot apart. The bottom rung is one foot from the water. The tide rises at 12 inches every 15 minutes. High tide peaks in one hour. When the tide is at it's highest, how many rungs are under water?

4. There is a house with four walls. Each wall faces south. There is a window in each wall. A bear walks by one of the windows. What color is the bear?

5. Is half of two plus two equal to two or three?

6. There is a room. The shutters are blowing in. There is broken glass on the floor. There is water on the floor. You find Sloppy dead on the floor. Who is Sloppy? How did Sloppy die?

7. How much dirt would be in a hole 6 feet deep and 6 feet wide that has been dug with a square edged shovel?

8. If I were in Hawaii and dropped a bowling ball in a bucket of water which is 45 degrees F, and dropped another ball of the same weight, mass, and size in a bucket at 30 degrees F, both of them at the same time, which ball would hit the bottom of the bucket first? Same question, but the location is in Canada?

9. What is the significance of the following: The year is 1978, thirty-four minutes past noon on May 6th.

10. What can go up a chimney down, but can't go down a chimney up?

11. If a farmer has 5 haystacks in one field and 4 haystacks in the other field, how many haystacks would he have if he combined them all in the center field?

12. What is it that goes up and goes down but does not move?

தங்களின் பதில்களை ஆங்கிலத்திலோ அல்லது தமிழிலோ தரலாம். முயற்சி உடையார் இகழ்ச்சி அடையார்.

Old Puzzle - old answers (new take)

1. Incorrectly. That is the word that is always pronounced incorrectly. (However any word other than incorrectly, that is pronounced incorrectly is also pronounced incorrectly. Hello call Visu)

2. 1:45. The man gave a quarter to two. (To me it doesnt make sense. If we say he did it when he was asked the time, at least it makes some sense. But this is the popular answer.)

3. None. The Boat rises with the water. (however this is not true if the boat is dry docked and the dock is one foot from the water and the botton rung is in line with the dock)

4. White. The house is in North Pole. (Dondu sir, this time i got it right)

5. Three (becos that seems to be the number of the day. right ramanathan)

6. Sloppy is a fish. The wind blew the fishbowl down, it broke and sloppy died. Poor Sloppy. ( It is bad for humans to keep pets for his own pleasure. see how it ends.)

7. None. It is already a hole. (and we are all so clean. When we finish digging we leave a clean hole.)

8. The one in 45deg F and it is the same answer for canada too. (However if the second bucket was at 30 deg F but did not have water in it, then the ball would reach the bottom of this bucket faster)

9. 12:34, 5/6/78 if written the american way. (why is the americans do everything in a different way from rest of the world - drive on the wrong side, 110v, play football with hand.......)

10. Umbrella (but they can go to the other camp if offered respectable number of seats)

11. One (but if he loses a needle in it, then there would none as he would have spread the hay allover the field looking for the needle)

12. Temperature (that is the old and conventional answer. what about vertical scroll bar as a new answer? )

// in a bucket of water which is 45 degrees F, and dropped another ball of the same weight, mass, and size in a bucket at 30 degrees F, //

30 degree F என்றால் தண்ணீர் ஐஸ் கட்டியாக உறைந்து விட்டிருக்கும் அல்லவா ?

( 32 degree F = 0 degree C தானே?)
